EDIIT's mission is clear: to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions for young individuals with eating disorders or those experiencing acute food and fluid refusal as part of their mental health disorder.

To achieve this, EDIIT actively engages with community teams and acute hospitals, offering face-to-face consultations to tailor support for those in need.

Additionally, the team works to minimise  nasogastric feeding  on acute wards by collaborating with medical teams, supporting understanding of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), developing stabilisation plans, and ensuring safe transitions.

EDIIT also looks at emotions, coping strategies, and personalised care planning, and provides recommendations for ongoing support.

EDIIT's objectives are:

Reduce Tier 4 admissions for young people.

Direct people to the right service at the right time.

Promote clear outcomes, independence, and participation.

Deliver effective, efficient, and personalised support.

Facilitate step discharge from acute hospitals.

              Decrease out-of-area hospital admissions.

Provide skills development through professional teaching.
