What we do

Toucan works to ensure that sustainable, high-quality care for specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in the West Midlands is offered.

We commit to doing this by helping healthcare providers make healthcare journeys easier to navigate. We also coproduce and improve services, to make sure they meet the needs of young people, families, and carers in the region based on the feedback we receive.

By improving and examining the way we all work, including interventions that we offer as part of care plans, we tackle variations in care across healthcare services to improve care for all.

This will help keep young people out of hospital by providing better community support, and if a young person does go to hospital, it will reduce their time spent there.

Examples of the type of work we do include:

-          Offering services that provide intensive support such as Intensive Residential Outreach Care (IROC) and The Eating Disorder Intensive Inreach Team (EDIIT).

-          Providing experienced Case Managers who support stays in hospitals and help facilitate the right support upon discharge.

-          Organising Family Ambassadors who support the needs of families and carers.

-          A referral coordination hub that ensures young people get the right treatment at the right time.
