‘All About Your Learning Disability Annual Health Check’ - an animation for children and young people with a learning disability

Are you a parent or carer to a child or young person with a learning disability? Are they 14 years old or over? If so, then your child or young person is entitled to a Learning Disability Annual Health Check.

Annual Health Checks can help to keep your child or young person healthy. They take place at the doctors’ surgery every year, and your child or young person does not need to be unwell to have one.

The NHS has co-produced an animation with young people with a learning disability, parents, carers and supporters. The animation answers questions that your child or young person may have as it explains what to expect before, during and after an Annual Health Check.

As parents and carers, please can we ask you to watch this important animation with your child or young person. The animation can be viewed on the following webpage: https://www.bsmhft.nhs.uk/service-users-and-carers/service-user-information/learning-disability-and-autism/annual-health-checks/
