Healthcare Teams Unite to Support MacGregor Ward

Healthcare professionals from the Eating Disorder Intensive Inreach Team (EDIIT) at Toucan (the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative), and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust are teaming up to take on the Snowdon Sunset Challenge on 31st May 2025.

The teams will embark on a 7-hour journey, climbing over 3,000 feet, to raise funds for MacGregor Ward at Warwick Hospital, which provides essential care for young people experiencing mental health difficulties and neurodivergence.

Dr. Andrea Biro, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Toucan said: “By taking on this challenge together, we hope to raise funds that will be used to improve the environment, helping the young people feel safer, calmer, and more supported during their time on MacGregor Ward.”

The funds raised will go towards improving the ward’s environment, including the addition of a sensory cubicle, to create a more supportive and therapeutic space for the individuals there. This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of both teams to enhancing the well-being of the children and young people they work with.

A spokesperson from South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust added: “A sensory friendly environment is vital for the wellbeing of the young people in our care. This challenge reflects our dedication to enhancing MacGregor Ward and ensuring we are able to meet their holistic needs. Particularly children and young people in crisis and/or those who are neurodiverse. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in raising funds for this challenge.”
