Reflexions Service: Supporting emotional wellbeing across Black Country schools
A growing number of schools and colleges across the Black Country are benefitting from the support of Reflexions — the region’s Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in schools — helping young people, parents and teachers to better understand and manage emotional wellbeing.
Currently, Reflexions supports almost 300 schools, representing around 59% of education settings across the Black Country, with plans to expand even further in early 2026. This aligns with the Government’s national ambition for every school in England to have access to an MHST by 2029/30.
What the service provides
The Reflexions Service offers a wide range of support to help children and young people build resilience and manage emotional and mental health challenges. This includes:
- One-to-one interventions (low and high intensity CBT)
- Therapeutic group work
- Targeted work based on mini referrals
- Whole school wellbeing audits and culture reviews
- Consultations for Senior Mental Health Leads and teaching staff
- Training sessions for staff and parents
- Drop-in sessions and school holiday programmes
- Coaching and mentoring support for Wolverhampton College
As well as working directly with young people, Reflexions also supports parents and school staff through group and individual sessions, training, and workshops. These focus on identifying early signs of emotional distress and promoting wellbeing across the whole school community.
