Toucan rolling out Trauma-Informed Care training across West Midlands
Toucan, the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative, is rolling out a programme of Trauma-Informed Care training (Levels 1, 2 and 3) for partner organisations in the West Midlands.
Initial delivery is taking place internally with Toucan staff and selected partner organisations, ahead of a wider roll-out. Alongside this, Toucan is investing in developing its internal capacity through a dedicated train-the-trainer programme, enabling more colleagues to become accredited Level 3 trainers and increasing the availability of Trauma Enhanced Care training across services.
Recognising that trauma is everybody’s business, the programme has been developed for colleagues across all roles and services, including health and social care professionals, administrative teams, support staff and those working alongside children, young people, families and carers.
Jo Hemming, Associate Director of Nursing for Quality and Workforce at Toucan, said:
“By investing in this training, we are building the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to ensure children, young people, families and carers experience compassionate, informed and consistent support across the West Midlands.
“Expanding our internal training capacity for the level 3 training will also help us embed this approach more widely across the region.”

As the training continues to expand, Toucan looks forward to supporting more colleagues across the collaborative to further develop trauma-informed knowledge and practice.
